The Imbizo theme Beyond Limits: Reshaping the Future of Higher Education represents an important and timely call to action for the entire higher education community. As we enter a new era of technological and social change, we face unprecedented challenges that require us to think beyond the traditional boundaries of higher education. The theme recognizes that higher education faces several critical challenges that require us to rethink and reshape the way we deliver education.

The Imbizo theme challenges us to embrace new approaches that will prepare graduates for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Through exploring adaptive teaching and learning, curriculum transformation, creativity and innovation, Artificial intelligence, diversity equity and inclusivity, we can create a more vibrant, flexible, and responsive higher education system that meets the needs of students and society.

In growing together as a scholarly community, this in-person Imbizo encourages deliberation, critique and dialogue on key
imperatives impacting higher education and will be structured to enable such engagements, conversations and creations.

THE FORMAT WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Paper presentations, lightning presentations, critical dialogues, workshops, artefacts (posters, prototypes), and creative/arts-based performances.

We invite traditional research approaches as well as critical-creative outputs and papers that could focus on (but not limited to) one or more of the following areas:

  • Adaptive teaching and learning
  • Disrupting curriculum spaces with a future-oriented gaze
  • The rise of AI and its influence on higher education
  • Broadening creativity and innovation for transformative and socially just higher education
  • Diversity and Inclusivity
  • Belonging and becoming – staff and students

The Imbizo aims to foster collaboration and partnerships to promote creative and innovative practices in higher education.
Participants will have opportunities to network, collaborate, and share ideas and experiences to transform higher education and shape the future of learning and teaching.
