The Durban University of Technology recognised the importance of providing residence accommodation for it’s students however space in residence is limited so it is important to apply in good time.
FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
- Students registering for the first time to the University need to indicate that they require residence on the CAO application form.
- When the student has been accepted by the University, the Students Admissions Department would send a list of all accepted offers to Student Housing.
- Student Housing checks if the students is accepted for a full time course (no part-time) and must be from 30 km away from campus.
- The student is pre-allocated to residence and once the registration fee or funding has been cleared for accommodation by Finance the student should accept the residence registration online using iEnabler under “Residence Registration”.
- Student should print a proof of residence registration and proceed to the allocated residence.
First time students are allocated to residences situated on and close to campus to ensure that they adapt to the University environment
RETURNING STUDENTS
- Returning students need to apply for residence towards year end for the following year (September to October of every year – must confirm dates and process with Housing)
- Students are allocated based on a first come first serve basis.
- Students doing second year will be treated as returning students to residence.
- Students accepted for residence are those coming from a 30 km radius from campus.
- Students must be registering for a full-time qualification (no part-time, no in-service training, no non diploma subjects)
- When the student has been accepted for residence, they are pre-allocated to a space .
- When the student has been academically registered and funding has been cleared the student must accept the registration online using iEnabler under “Residence Registration”.
POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS
- Postgraduate students must apply for residence towards the end of the year for the following year (September to October of every year – must confirm dates and process with Housing)
- Students coming from outside the University can send an email as an application to Housindbn@dut.ac.za
- Students must be academically registered and have funding for residence in order to be able to accept residence registration.
- Postgraduates students are allocated to Student Village depending on availability.
- Students that have requested residence space and Housing has reserved the space for them will be liable for the cost.
