Bio: Professor Kruger has been directly involved in education for 25 years. She has also been researching and publishing since 2007. Prof Kruger regards education, research and critical thinking as inseparable in creating a better understanding of society, and for creating the conditions in which social challenges can be addressed. She holds a PhD in Visual Studies in which she analyses the underlying dynamics shaping our societies and the various ways in which visual artists have responded to these dynamics. She is one of the contributing scholars to the international Exploring Visual Cultures project in which international scholars discuss significant cultural artefacts with a view to contributing to transnational discussion of cultural phenomena.

Prof Kruger has served as National Vice-Chair of SANAVA for 5 years and is currently also serving on the national DHET Creative Outputs Review Panel. Awards include 2018 Faculty Woman Researcher of the Year; 2017 Institutional Award: Researcher in Training; 2014 Faculty Young Researcher of the Year; 2008 Faculty Woman Researcher of the Year; 2007 Faculty Lecturer of the Year, and First Prize in the sculpture category, National Ceramic Exhibition, Pretoria Art Museum (2004). Two of her ceramic works have been acquired for the Corobric Permanent Collection housed at the Pretoria Art Museum.
