Lecturer: Mrs D Borg Tel: 031 373 2390 Fax: 086 674 0388 Email: dorindab@dut.ac.za . Bio: Mrs Borg joined the Somatology department in 1996. She currently holds a National Higher Diploma: Somatology and a Master’s in Education (Higher Education). She completed the CIDESCO international exam in 1993 where she was awarded best practical exam. She served as HOD from 2012 to 2020. She is currently the third year level co-ordinator and curriculum |
Lecturer: Ms S Nkwanyana Tel: 031 373 2535 Fax: 086 674 0388 Email: Sinegugun@dut.ac.za . Bio: Ms Nkwanyana joined the Somatology team in 2006. She currently holds a National Diploma, a Bachelor of Technology in Somatology and Master of Technology in Somatology. She has completed Pre-Doctoral modules and is currently studying towards PhD (Health Sciences). She is an academic lecturer for some modules in the Diploma qualification and Post graduate qualification. She is the co-ordinator for Postgraduate studies and academic mentor coordinator. She is an external moderator for Somatology based modules for other Universities of Technology. She is involved in research supervision. Her interest and specialization are advanced facial therapies. |
Lecturer: Mrs Kiveshni Rammanhor Tel: 031 373 2392 Email: naidook@dut.ac.za Location: Ritson Campus Qualification(s): M. Tech in Somatology (DUT) . Bio: Mrs Rammanhor joined the Somatology Team in 2006 as part of a mentorship program and has progressed today as a Lecturer. She had graduated with the Master’s Degree in 2014 and is currently pursuing her PhD. Mrs Rammanhor specialises in teaching Body Therapy Modules in the undergraduate and postgraduate program. These modules include Massage (Swedish and Sports), Electric and Manual therapies as well as Advanced Reflexology Therapy (Vertical Reflexology). Another keen interest of hers is engaging with students in community engagement projects and assists in sporting endeavours such as the Comrades, Sani2c and Dusi Marathon. . Bio: Ms Mpofana joined the department of Somatology in 2020 after serving numerous years in the medical aesthetics industry. She is involved in teaching and learning of Somatic Medical Aesthetics, Hydrotherapy and Permanent Remedial Somatic Therapy Procedures. She is responsible for clinic coordination (WiL) as well as student research supervision. Ms Mpofana currently serves as a committee member on both Departmental as well as the Faculty Research Committees. As a budding researcher, Ms Mpofana is priviledged to be able to collaborate with both local and international skin care experts, where she has either presented papers in conferences or published articles in accredited journals, thus demonstrating expertise aligned to her field of study and link it to the current medical aesthetics issues in South Africa. Her arrears of expertise in somatology include: Lasers and lights, Anti-aging (chemical and mechanical), hydrotherapy, melasma, darker skin types, Indigenous knowledge. She is currently completing her PhD in Clinical medicine (Dermatology). |
General assistant: Mirriam Gumede Email: mirriamg@dut.ac.za Location: Ritson Campus Qualification(s): Matric . Bio: Mirriam has been with the department of Somatology for 25 years. Given her experience, she is responsible to assists the programme with general housekeeping. Among many other roles she plays in the department, the key role is maintaining hygiene is the practical venues as well as the Somatology clinic. Other duties she performs include overseeing office supply and needs, laundry, storage of clinic and classroom stock, banking, laundry, and sanitation of class rooms. |
Lecturer: Ms Makgobole . Bio: Ms Makgobole joined the department of Somatology in 2011 as part of the mentorship program, she progressed to be the departmental Extended Curriculum Programme coordinator. Currently, she is involved in teaching and learning modules including Aesthetics Practices and Body therapy. She is the first year coordinator and also involved in research supervision. |
