MAGWAZA COMMENDS DUT AND ITS ENVISION2030 STRATEGY AS A GUIDING FORCE IN HER ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

MAGWAZA COMMENDS DUT AND ITS ENVISION2030 STRATEGY AS A GUIDING FORCE IN HER ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

“Graduating Cum Laude serves as proof that commitment and striving for excellence, which are two of the principles of DUT, really does pay off and can open many doors for you and can kickstart one’s career,” replied an euphoric Mukelwa Magwaza.

She will be taking centre stage to receive Cum Laude in her Diploma in Consumer Sciences: Food and Nutrition at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2024 Autumn Graduation ceremony. The auspicious event will take place at the Olive Convention Centre on Tuesday, 21 May 2024.

Besides Magwaza being over the moon, her family was also ecstatic when they heard the news and cannot  wait for graduation day. She indicated that they are all planning their outfits and one would swear they were the ones graduating.

Hailing from Ntuzuma, her journey at DUT started in 2020 and it had started a bit rocky as COVID-19 had struck and it came with major changes that affected her learning experience.

“The assistance and guidance I received from my lecturers, fellow students and the rest of the DUT staff made the experience so much easier and thrilling. This also benefits the institution by putting it on the map as it is able to produce high achieving students,” she said.

Magwaza  commends DUT and its ENVISION2030 strategy which was a guiding force and made her proud to be a DUT student.

“Respect and accountability are some of the DUT values I resonate with as I believe that being able to show courtesy and take responsibility for your actions can help an individual notice what they lack or need to work on and improve for the better,” she added.

Magwaza shared that studying at DUT was her choice and first preference because she loved the fact that she will not only get theoretical experience but you also practical experience, which she can build on when she gets to the real world.

Magwaza’s advice to first-year-students is to not be afraid to ask for help and try new things.

“Put yourself out there and work hard for what you want. You should always give your best,” she said.

Her plan for the future is to become a food technologist and is also open to study towards a different career path and be a jack of all trades.
